ABOUT US

Our Vision

At Serandib Foods, it is our philosophy to exceed our customer's expectations by providing the highest in quality, value and service that none in this industry could ever match.

Our Mission

To understand the challenges and opportunities of the community we live and work in and have the connections to ensure that our customers always get the products they want, at favourable prices, on time. To be the number one processed food manufacturer, distributing a premium product locally and internationally.

Serendib is an old Arabic name for the island off the southern tip of India. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica it is "derived from the Sanskrit compound Simhaladvipa," and it means "Dwelling-place-of-lion's Island." It is best known to speakers of English through the word 'serendipity', invented in the 18th century by the English man of letters Horace Walpole on the inspiration of a Persian fairy tale, 'The Three Princes of serendipity,' whose heroes often made discoveries by chance.

In today's hyper-competitive food and beverage landscape, we know there is no room for artificial storytelling. Authenticity is no longer a choice. Consumers see right through an inauthentic brand, and they don't hesitate to tweet their followers about it. That's the reason why all our products are branded "Serendib Foods - Truly Authentic".

Food, from its cooking to consumption - is an "integral" part of life in Sri Lanka.

The Serendib Food product range now has over 150 Ready-to-Eat, processed and frozen food items. Embarking on an ambitious plan to introduce Natural Fruit Nectars, we are the first company to offer "Belli" nectar to both the local and international markets.

The Company has pioneered producing products that were earlier considered "not possible" in the Ready-to-Eat food range by introducing real cooked Crab Curry in bottles, Divul Kiri (with Coconut Milk) , Jaadi and ready to eat Kotthu Roti with Chicken or Fish options.

The Hub of Our Operation

Take a trip east from Colombo, the capital hub of Sri Lanka, onto the Wattala/Negombo highway, take a left at the (3rd) kilometer post to our fully automated factory complex nestled on the banks of the Hamilton Canal, built by the British in 1804. Drive over the bridge at Paliyawatta and you will arrive at a one-of-a-kind factory which manufactures and distributes some of the best packaged and processed food in the country.

Within the vast food & beverage landscape, our services cover the full lifecycle of a brand. We have defined and curated concepts from scratch. Serendib Foods, since its humble beginnings in 2009 have today moved beyond the supply of traditional ethnic foods to become the largest producer and supplier of EU licensed marine fish products including dry fish from Sri Lanka to the European Union.

We supply our products all across Europe teaming with major supermarkets such as ASDA, TESCO and AMAZON.CO.UK. Unlike the traditional method of preparing dry fish where fish is dried in the sun, Serendib Foods uses the best and the freshest fish purchased directly from approved fishing vessels and processed and dried using state-of-the-art machinery in the production of our range of dry fish products.
